It is considered one of the most sacred crystals throughout history. The name ‘Selenite’ derives from the Greek goddess Selene, the goddess of the moon. Selenite, Desert Rose and Gypsum Flower are crystal habit varieties of the mineral Gypsum. Selenite is a very soft crystal, so one should avoid using water around it as it can damage the crystal.
